Changes

We've had some big changes lately. I started a new full-time job, so Tate now goes to daycare. We found a home daycare that he loves. There are three little boys all about his age plus a little baby girl. They go to the park every day and go to the library every week. He is doing great there.

Our friends Pat and Jolene came out to visit over Memorial weekend. We went to the Coors brewery and went to a Rockies game. It was our first time at Coors Field. Tate watched the entire game. He cheered and danced and after an outfielder made a diving catch, he asked for "one more." Pat and Jolene brought Tate a super cute Twins jersey, so even though the Rockies were playing the Dodgers, Tate showed his hometown pride.

Today we went to the home of one of the partners of Nick's company for a crawfish boil. We swam almost the entire time. Tate got a lot more daring. He saw some of Nick's coworkers jump in and do flips in the deep end, so then he thought he could too. He jumped in tons of times and threw tantrums every time we told him he couldn't jump into the deep end. They also had a trampoline that he loved, and he played tennis for the first time too.

Nick and I got away for a long weekend to Marco Island, FL about a month ago. We flew in Uncle John to watch Tate while we were away. We had a great time. It was a company trip, but we had plenty of time to relax and have fun. It was nice to sleep in for the first time in a couple years.

Circus

We took Tate to his first circus this weekend. He loved it! His favorite was the trapeze show. We also saw poodles riding scooters, a dancing bear, elephants, jugglers, and of course the human cannonball. The cool part of the human cannonball is that the man who shot out of the cannon is the same man who does it at the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna, and they made an announcement about his record set in Owatonna. Tate also got his first taste of cotton candy and funnel cake, which he of course loved.

Easter Vacation

We just got back from a vacation over Easter weekend. We flew into Las Vegas on Thursday and met up with Nick's family. Then Friday we drove to Lake Havasu City, AZ to stay with Tate's great-grandparents for a few days. We had a wonderful time there playing bocce ball and hanging out at the beach. Tate even swam in Great-Grandma's pool for a short time, despite the cold temperature! Tate enjoyed hunting for Easter eggs on Sunday morning before we drove to Laughlin for an Easter buffet at the Golden Nugget casino. Along the way we stopped off in Oatman where Tate got to pet some donkeys in the street. After a final night in Vegas, we flew back home early Monday morning. Now we are all trying to get caught up on our sleep!

Soccer

Tate started playing soccer, and he just loves it! He has a uniform and everything. They do all sorts of fun things every week like building cone towers and kicking them over, playing with a parachute, and of course scoring goals. Tate likes scoring goals the best. He usually doesn't like to wait his turn and just keeps on shooting goals during all of the other kids' turns. He always has to have a ball with him, even when he's not supposed to. I'll post some action pics sometime soon.

Updates

Sorry it has been awhile. I finally finished up my semester! Just one more to go!

We had a fun relaxing Thanksgiving weekend here in Denver. Nick celebrated his birthday by taking the day off of work. We went to the aquarium and out for sushi.
We also went to the zoo over the long weekend, so we worked in lots of fun.

Next came my birthday. We went out for an awesome Greek dinner. Tate has become a very picky eater. About the only thing I can always count on him eating lately is raisins. He rarely eats meat. Now we discovered why. Apparently we haven't been offering the right kinds of meat. He much prefers calamari and lamb! Nick couldn't cut up the calamari for him fast enough.

This past weekend we went to Winterfest which was an outdoor festival. We all danced in the street after visiting Santa Claus. Tate wasn't so sure about him, but he did love the candy cane that Santa gave him.
Tate has been attempting new words lately. Here are some of the words he uses regularly: Dada, oosh (shoes), Mama (only when he wants something), moh (more), and uh-oh. He also has started to wear accessories. He found a couple bibs in his drawer and had to wear both of them around the house all day. He loves to wear lanyards, preferably more than one at a time. And he will not leave the house without a hat. If you try, he makes noises and points at his head.

We will be heading back to MN soon for the holidays! It will be great to see everyone again!
